Poems by David Reid
If I Had Longer In This World
If I had longer in this world,
Than man has given me,
I know that you would find,
I’ve waited patiently.
If Hearts Are Used For Feelings
If hearts are used for feelings
And eyes are used to see,
Then why can’t people stop the pain
That they inflict on me.
The Foster Bridge
I am a bridge between two worlds,
What was and what will be.
I am the path to your new life,
Just you wait and see.
The Dog Fosterer
Although I’m not their parent,
I care for them each day.
I cuddle, sing and talk to them,
And watch them as they play.
Christmas Is Coming
Christmas is coming.
But Santa won’t come here.
There won’t be any Turkey.
Or friend that we hold dear.
A Love That Never Dies
For many years I loved you.
You’ve been my true friend.
I can’t really say goodbye.
My heart just won’t mend.
A Dog Sits Waiting
A dog sits waiting in the cold autumn sun.
Too faithful to leave, too frightened to run.
